Located within the borders of Şereflikoçhisar district in southeastern Ankara, Lake Tuz (Salt Lake) is the second largest lake in Türkiye and one of the world’s significant salt lakes. Its vast, flat white surface creates a striking landscape, especially in summer when the water recedes and reveals spectacular views. Due to its high salt content, the area is an important natural resource, producing a large portion of Türkiye’s salt. At the same time, Lake Tuz serves as an important habitat for many bird species, most notably flamingos making it an appealing stop for nature observers.
