Route and Why This Order
This route combines the western districts of Ayaş and Nallıhan; given the distance, it must be done by car. It begins at Şeyh Muhyiddin Mosque in Ayaş; known for its 1570-dated foundation inscription, this historic mosque forms the day's historical opening. From there the route heads west to Nallıhan; the domed, arcaded cells and central fountain of the 1595-built Kocahan showcase an example of Ottoman caravanserai architecture. The route ends naturally at Nallıhan Bird Paradise — closing the day moving from historic structures to nature is the way to show the region's two different faces.
Duration, Distance and Transport
The total distance between stops is about 66 km; the route takes roughly 6-7 hours in a day. A car is needed for transfers between stops.
When to Go
Visiting Nallıhan Bird Paradise in spring is the best time to observe the diversity of birds during migration season.
Local Tip
Stopping at the small pastry shops of Ayaş on the way to Nallıhan is a practical opportunity to get to know the region's local sweets.
